Welcome at Bistro de Luif
Bistro de Luif is located on the first floor of Maaspoort in downtown Venlo. You are always welcome, theater-goer or not. At the Bistro we work with super fresh products that we get from growers and producers in our region. Like eggs from Blei, bread from bakery Fleuren, Zuivel van Nu and much more.
We make delicious and honest dishes that are just a little bit different. The famous burgers with delicious fluffy brioche bread and lunch dishes certainly taste like more. Are you coming to have a taste? You can enjoy our bistro inside or outside on the terrace at the Oude Markt.
Where our roots lie
De Luif is a small remnant of the former, fourteenth-century fortifications in the first quadrant of Klein Italy in Venlo. De Luif was located on the harbor, enclosed between the Oude Markt, Maasboulevard, Maaspoort and the former city office. In the seventeenth century, wall houses were built on and against the round arches, which were later demolished leaving the remnant city wall exposed. De Luif was the only part of the city wall along which no road ran inside. The old part of De Luif is visible on the Meuse side of our building.
